Hong Kong delegation attends APEC Women and Economy Forum

     A nine-member delegation co-ordinated by the Labour and Welfare Bureau is attending the 2014 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Women and the Economy Forum to exchange views with other participating APEC member economies on "Harnessing the Power of Women for Asia-Pacific Prosperity", which is the main theme of the Forum.

     There are three sub-themes of the Forum, namely "Women and Green Development", "Women and Regional Trade and Economic Cooperation" and "Policy Support and Women's Economic Empowerment".

     The Permanent Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Miss Annie Tam, delivered a speech on "Women and Our Economy: Past, Present and Future" at the High-Level Policy Dialogue today (May 22) while the Chairperson of the Women's Commission (WoC), Mrs Stella Lau, shared her experience at a plenary session on "Women and Green Development". Another member of the delegation, Ms Pansy Ho, will give a presentation at the "Seminar of Women in Business Community" tomorrow (May 23).

     Other members of the delegation are WoC member Ms Juan Leung; four women entrepreneurs and business leaders, Ms Abbie Chan, Ms Clara Chan, Mrs Katherine Ngan and Ms Mandy Tang; and Assistant Secretary for Labour and Welfare (Welfare) Miss Noel Ng. The delegation will return to Hong Kong tomorrow evening.
