Special traffic and transport arrangements for move-out activities of exhibitions at HKCEC this Wednesday
********************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (April 14) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Wan Chai North to facilitate the move-out activities of exhibitions held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) this Wednesday (April 16).

Road closures
-------------

The following road sections will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic from 3pm until 7pm or when road closures are lifted:

(i) The section of Expo Drive East northbound between Expo Drive Central and Convention Avenue (except buses); and

(ii) Expo Drive west of HKCEC Phase II (except buses and vehicles with valid permits).

Suspension of taxi stand
------------------------

The taxi stand at Expo Drive will be suspended from 3pm to 7pm.

As horse race meetings will be held at Happy Valley that evening, the TD anticipates that the traffic in Wan Chai North and Causeway Bay will be very busy and congested during the evening peak hours period on that day. Motorists not heading to the HKCEC are advised to use Gloucester Road and avoid driving to Harbour Road. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. The public planning to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport as far as possible.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are available at the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk). For any enquiries, please call 1823.
