CS concludes visit to Singapore (with photos)

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, continued her visit to Singapore today (August 2).

     In the morning, Mrs Lam called on the acting Minister for Social and Family Development, Mr Chan Chun Sing. During the meeting, they exchanged views on measures to help people and families in need. After the courtesy call, Mrs Lam received a briefing from the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Social and Family Development, Mr Chan Heng Kee, on measures implemented by the Singaporean government to tackle the widening income gap and to help people in need through working with different sectors of the community.

     Mrs Lam then called on the Emeritus Senior Minister, Mr Goh Chok Tong. During the meeting, Mrs Lam briefed Mr Goh on the latest developments in Hong Kong. They exchanged views on a broad range of co-operation issues, including closer economic ties between Hong Kong and Singapore, as well as between Hong Kong and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

     At a luncheon talk co-organised by the Singapore Institute of International Affairs and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore, Mrs Lam spoke on socio-economic issues faced by Asian economies from a Hong Kong perspective. She also shared with the audience the experience of Hong Kong, including its socio-economic progress, problems encountered and possible solutions to the problems.

     Mrs Lam returned to Hong Kong in the evening.
