Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, at a media session after attending a radio programme today (April 20):

Reporter: (On donation of land to the Government)?

Secretary for Transport and Housing: As I've said earlier, as far as the Government is concerned, if there is anyone in the community, including a developer, who would like to donate land to the Government for the purpose of building housing (units), the Government is fully prepared to consider any such idea. But of course, an idea has to be carefully considered with reference to planning requirements, with reference to public interest. Ultimately, we have to satisfy the community that whatever decision the Government take, it's in the public interest. So, that's why we need time. As far as the suggestion from Dr Lee Shau-kee is concerned, indeed, he has indicated that he would like to offer some land to the Government for the purpose of benefiting young people. There are some contacts between the Government and Dr Lee. At this point, I am not able to disclose any details. Once we have come to any firm decision, of course, that will be announced.
