On the decision to immediately suspend the membership of 3A Holidays Company Limited by the Board of Directors of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong (TIC), the Tourism Commission gave the following response today (February 21):
The Registrar of Travel Agents has just received the notice of the decision of the TIC Board. The notice states that as 3A Holidays Company Limited has breached Article 11(5)(h) of the Articles of Association of the TIC, the TIC Board decided to suspend the membership of 3A Holidays with immediate effect.
In accordance with Sections 19 and 21 of the Travel Agents Ordinance, the Registrar will summon the responsible person of 3A Holidays to appear in the Travel Agents Registry on February 28 to facilitate investigation into the business of 3A Holidays. The Registrar will adopt appropriate procedures, and will not rule out the possibility of suspension or revocation of the Travel Agent Licence of 3A Holidays for ensuring that the rights and interests of tourists are well protected.
The Government will not tolerate any behaviours that infringe upon the rights and interests of tourists or disrupt the order of our tourism market, and will take necessary actions to uphold the reputation of the Hong Kong tourism industry.
