A total of 136 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 104 summonses were issued to motorists and pedestrians who violated traffic regulations during an operation of the Regional Traffic Day in Kowloon East yesterday (September 20).
The Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day was conducted between 7am and 11pm yesterday and 292 officers from Traffic Kowloon East, District Traffic Teams of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping and Kwun Tong were deployed to enforce regulations at traffic accident black spots and potential traffic accident locations in Kowloon East Region.
Another 311 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and other parking offences.
A total of 31 pedestrians were verbally warned for committing jaywalking and other minor traffic offences.
Meanwhile, pamphlets and leaflets on road safety message were also distributed to the road users.
Statistics revealed that a total of 1 428 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred in Kowloon East Region from January to August this year.
