The visiting delegation of the Tiangong-1/Shenzhou-9 manned space docking and rendezvous mission attended the "Hong Kong Welcomes the Delegation of Shenzhou-9 Manned Spaceflight Mission Variety Show" this afternoon (August 11) to share with the public the joy of successfully accomplishing the space mission.

The Acting Financial Secretary, Professor K C Chan; the delegation leader, Mr Niu Hongguang; astronauts Mr Jing Haipeng, Mr Liu Wang and Ms Liu Yang; the Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Li Gang; and the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, kicked off the variety show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The three astronauts showed their music talent by singing the song "Descendants of the Dragon" with a children's choir, and Ms Liu also recited "Song of the Yangtze River" with 13-year-old Hong Kong student Hon On-ki in the show.

Apart from spectacular performances staged by local artistes and youngsters, the variety show today also saw young Hong Kong pianist Mr Aristo Sham demonstrate his marvellous piano skills. Participants of the Young Astronaut Training Camp, dubbed "little astronauts", took the opportunity to beef up their knowledge of space science and technology by posing questions to the astronauts.
