16 building plans approved in May

     The Buildings Department approved 16 building plans in May, with three on Hong Kong Island, one in Kowloon and 12 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, one was for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, seven were for commercial developments, and eight were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 13 building projects that, when completed, will provide 75,100 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1,226 units, and 70,085 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 17 building projects.

     The department also issued 13 occupation permits, with five on Hong Kong Island, one in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 10,564 square metres, involving 40 units, and 39,279 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in May totalled about $1.15 billion.

     In addition, eight demolition consents involving 10 building structures were issued.

     The department received 4,192 reports about unauthorised building works in May, and issued 604 removal orders on unauthorised works.
