The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The Hospital Authority (HA) today (April 12) announced its Outstanding Staff and Teams Award for 2012, with seven staff members and six healthcare teams from different disciplines of public hospitals being awarded (a list of awardees is appended). They were highly commended for their dedication and outstanding performance as well as for their delivery of quality patient-centred care, which enhanced the team spirit and the effectiveness of the organisation.
The HA has organised this annual award since 1993 as a corporate-wide staff recognition programme to recognise the significant contributions made by staff members and teams. The award programme has now been running for 19 years.
At the announcement ceremony today the Vice Chairman of the HA Human Resources Committee, Mr Patrick Ma, said, "During the selection process, we have a chance to listen to staff of different positions describe their working conditions. We see it a golden opportunity to deepen our understanding of various departments and hospitals. The selection panel would like to thank all participating colleagues. They show immense enthusiasm and professionalism, and offer a lot of views on their work."
The HA Chairman, Mr Anthony Wu, added, "Today, our outstanding staff and outstanding teams come to the stage to accept the annual honours. The award-winning colleagues come from various departments, including doctors, nurses, clerical and supporting staff as well as multi-disciplinary teams. They have fully demonstrated tender loving care and team spirit. We are honoured and proud of you. I would like to express my gratitude to the contributions of all award-winning colleagues and wish them every success in the future, and thank the selfless contribution of all HA staff."
The Selection Panel was chaired by Mr Ma and also included the HA Chief Executive, Dr Leung Pak-yin; HA Board Member, Ms Quince Chong; Cluster Chief Executive of Kowloon West Cluster, Dr Nancy Tung; HA Head of Human Resources, Dr Derrick Au; and a past award winner - Scientific Officer (Medical) of Queen Mary Hospital, Dr Thomas Wan.
