The exhibition also features the collection of Certificates of Indebtedness (CIs) donated to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department's Hong Kong Museum of History by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. This donation includes 5,331 CIs issued to the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, Standard Chartered Bank, the Mercantile Bank of India and Bank of China between 1935 and 1995, including the first CIs issued in December 1935 following the establishment of the Exchange Fund that year. CIs are certificates issued to note-issuing banks as cover for the banknotes they issue.
