The Government today (November 1) announced the appointments to the Steering Committee and the Investment Committee of the Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund.
The Steering Committee of the Fund was established to advise the Secretary for Education on the policies and procedures governing the operation and development of the Fund. The appointments are for a period of three years from November 1, 2011, to October 31, 2014. The membership of the steering committee appointed is set out below:

The Investment Committee of the Fund, chaired by the Secretary for Education or his representative, advises the trustee on the investment of the Fund. Members of the Investment Committee, appointed for a period from November 1, 2011, to May 14, 2013, are as follows:

The Secretary for Education, Mr Michael Suen, said, "I am confident that the Steering Committee and Investment Committee will help ensure that the Fund will promote the long-term and healthy development of the self-financing post-secondary education sector."
The $2.5 billion Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund was set up to promote the development of the self-financing post-secondary sector. It serves to support worthwhile initiatives and schemes that aim to enhance the quality of self-financing post-secondary education. The Fund will support the following schemes:
(i) Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme - to give recognition to the performance of outstanding students, and help attract outstanding local and non-local students to pursue studies in self-financing post-secondary programmes;
(ii) Quality Enhancement Support Scheme - to support the sector to carry out projects to enhance the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning; and
(iii) Quality Assurance Support Scheme - to provide support for education and training institutions to implement and strengthen quality assurance measures.
