Fatal traffic accident in Western District

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in Western District this afternoon (August 21) in which an 88-year-old man was killed.

     At about 1.40pm, a private car driven by a 33-year-old man was reversing on Rock Hill Street eastbound near North Street and reportedly knocked down the 88-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the man was rushed to Queen Mary Hospital where he was certified dead at 9pm.

     The driver was arrested for causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving. He has been released on bail for further enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island, are underway.
