Appointments to Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health

     The Government gazetted today (August 12) the appointment of Professor Sophia Chan Siu-chee as Vice-Chairman of the Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health.

     At the same time, the re-appointment of four serving members, namely Dr Johnnie Casire Chan Chi-kau, Dr Daisy Dai Siu-kwan, Mr Antonio Kwong Cho-shing and Dr Donald Li Kwok-tung, as well as the appointment of Mr David Sun Yee-wha and Mr Jackson Wong Fan-foung as the Council's new members, was also announced.

     All the appointments will be effective from October 1, 2011, for a term of two years.

     The Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health is an independent statutory body established in 1987 to advise the Government on matters related to smoking and health. It is also tasked to advance public education concerning the effects of smoking on the community and the individual as well as to engage in smoking-related research.

     The full membership of the Council with effect from October 1, 2011, is as follows:
