At the invitation of the Bauhinia Foundation Research Centre, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, today (July 9) attended the "Dialogue Session With the Youth" held at HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity and enjoyed frank exchanges with more than 100 young people. The session was hosted by Mr Anthony Wu, Chairman of the research centre.
Mr Tang listened carefully and exchanged views with the young participants about the challenges Hong Kong is facing. The discussion covered a wide range of issues including diversification of the local economy, social tensions and governance, relationship between the government and the business sector, social mobility, improving people's quality of life, housing, environmental protection, education, promoting scientific research and development, arts and culture, enhancing the understanding about international and Mainland affairs, as well as young people's political careers.
Mr Tang encouraged young people to try and explore new things, broaden their horizons and accumulate experiences in order to better prepare for the future.
"I can see and feel the aspirations, passion and commitment of our young people. I am deeply encouraged that their concerns go far beyond personal or materialistic pursuits and that they care a lot about this city's future. I am greatly inspired by their thoughtful, rational analyses and constructive views," he said.
The young people who attended today's session came from different backgrounds and included young professionals and students from universities and secondary schools.
