The Government today (March 25) announced the appointment of Mr William Mackay to the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB). His term will run from April 1, 2011, until October 31, 2012.
Mr Mackay is the regional vice-president and general manager of a hotel group in Hong Kong and a member of the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Hotels Association.
"We welcome Mr Mackay to join the Board. With his expertise and experience in the hotel industry, we are confident that Mr Mackay will help the HKTB in enhancing Hong Kong's position as a premier tourist destination," a spokesman for the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau said.
"We would also like to thank Mr Ananda Arawwawela, the outgoing member, for his past contribution to the work of the Board," the spokesman added.
Appointments to the HKTB are made by the Financial Secretary under section 9 of the Hong Kong Tourism Board Ordinance, under authority delegated by the Chief Executive.
