Global recruitment for CEO of SFC commences

     The Government announced today (February 19) the commencement of a global recruitment exercise for the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).

     A selection panel chaired by the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, has been set up to identify the most suitable candidate for recommendation for appointment by the Chief Executive.  Members of the panel are Mr Chan Kam-lam, Dr Moses Cheng Mo-chi, Dr Eddy Fong Ching, Mr Lawrence Lee Kam-hung, Mr Carlson Tong and the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan.
    
     "The new CEO will be pivotal in leading the operations of the Commission.  He will have the executive responsibility for the day-to-day running of the SFC, and is tasked to implement the regulatory objectives under the Securities and Futures Ordinance, as well as the policies and strategies set by the SFC Board," a government spokesman said.   

     "A comprehensive search will be conducted both locally and overseas to identify the most suitable candidate to succeed Mr Martin Wheatley who will leave the SFC in June 2011," he said.

     Advertisements for the post are published in the local and international press starting today.  An executive search firm has been engaged to broaden the network of search and assist in the recruitment exercise.
