The Government today (December 31) announced the appointment of Mr Mak Chai-kwong as a new board member to the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTPC). His term will run from January 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012.
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, said, "The corporation is well-served by a board of directors with a good mix of expertise from different fields. Mr Mak's experience and expertise will be a valuable asset as the corporation forges ahead the Phase III development project.
"We are confident that the board members, with their impressive experience and knowledge, will help the corporation enhance Hong Kong's position as a regional centre for innovation and technology."
Together with an official member appointed on an ex-officio basis, the board of directors of the corporation comprises 15 members, including the chairman. The membership of the board of directors is as follows:

The HKSTPC, which began operation on May 7, 2001, manages the Hong Kong Science Park, the InnoCentre and three industrial estates, and supports innovation and technology development in Hong Kong. It provides a comprehensive range of services to cater for the needs of industry at various stages, including nurturing technology start-ups through the incubation programme, providing premises and services in the Science Park for applied research and development activities, creating and sustaining a design cluster at the InnoCentre, and providing developed land in the industrial estates for production activities.
