Applications invited for new round of "Open Stage" Pilot Scheme
*********************************************************

The "Open Stage" Pilot Scheme, which has been held at the piazzas of three performing arts venues of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) since July 2010, will be extended to June 30, 2011. Interested parties are welcome to submit their applications.

Participants who joined the pilot scheme held performances at the piazzas of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC), Sha Tin Town Hall (STTH) and Kwai Tsing Theatre (KTT).

The scheme has received over 70 applications since its launch, encompassing various art forms. Over 80 performances have been held at the above venues by performers who passed the audition in the past few months.

The new round of the pilot scheme, from January to June 2011, will take place at the same designated outdoor areas, which are available for free for performers to showcase their talents. It also enables the public to appreciate the arts at leisure and enriches the cultural ambience of the community.

Performers can be an individual or a group of not more than eight persons. Auditioned and qualified performers may register for a performance session of two hours each between 10am and 10pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, on a first-come-first-served basis.

An applicant should be a Hong Kong resident aged 18 or above, and hold a valid Hong Kong permanent identity card. There is no age limit for performers, who should be holders of valid Hong Kong permanent identity documents or valid travel documents indicating that they are lawfully employable in Hong Kong. The applicant and all performers are requested to attend an audition by a panel. Applications will not be considered if the performers fail to attend.

Qualified performers in the first round do not need to apply again and may continue to register for performance sessions in the new round.

Details of the scheme and application forms are available at the respective venues and can also be downloaded from the respective websites. Completed application forms should be sent to the respective venues by post or in person.
