The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, met the Minister of Commerce, Mr Chen Deming, in Beijing this morning (December 23). Mr Tsang thanked the Ministry of Commerce for the promotion and co-ordination of Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA). Both sides noted that there were cases of "big doors open, small doors not yet open" in the implementation of CEPA measures, making the trade unable to fully benefit from them. They agreed to set up a working group to address the problems encountered in the implementation of CEPA, make an overall assessment of its implementation and decide on the way forward. Mr Chen said the Ministry would support and facilitate Hong Kong's entering into more pluralistic trade agreements. |
