New Year's Eve Countdown Carnival at Sha Tin (with photos)

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will present the New Year's Eve Countdown Carnival 2010 at Sha Tin Park, Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza and City Art Square.

     The carnival starts at 8.30pm on December 31, 2010 and continues until 12.15am on New Year's Day. Admission is free.

     To add festive atmosphere, the venue will be decorated with festive bunting and lighting. A variety of delightful entertainment will be featured, including different types of dancing, from standard and Latin American dance to modern dance, tap dance and jazz dance performances, music including piano recitals, percussion, folk songs, a symphonic band and pipe band performances, as well as acrobatics and pop singing by local singers Chet Lam and Swing.

     In addition, there will also be film show "Ah Ying", interactive games, tarot reading stalls and a make-a-wish corner for carnival-goers to participate in and enjoy.

     The climax of the carnival is the countdown to 2011 and at midnight a pyrotechnics show from the roofs of Sha Tin Town Hall and Sha Tin Public Library will light up the sky.

     The public are urged to help keep the public areas clean and to respect public property. Aerosol sprays, metallic balloons and bottles are prohibited at the venues.
