After months of keen competition since June this year, the Overall Champions of the Corporate Games 2010 finally went to the organisations accumulating the highest points from all the events for each group.

The Overall Champions and other winning organisations received their trophies at a prize presentation ceremony held at Shek Kip Mei Park Sports Centre today (December 19).

The Corporate Games, held every two years, are organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) for local industrial and commercial organisations/public sectors and their employees. It aims at promoting team spirit among the employees and strengthening their sense of belonging to their respective organisations.  Through the participation in the Games, the employees can develop a habit of doing exercise regularly, thereby promoting "Sport-for-All" and building an energetic and healthy community.

Officiating at today's ceremony, the Chief Leisure Manager (Major Events) of the LCSD, Ms Rebecca Lou, said the department had all along been organising a wide range of recreational activities and sport competitions through various channels in promoting "Sport-for-All". As one of the major events to promote sports, the Corporate Games are supported and actively participated by various organisations. The Games this year had attracted the participation by more than 9,000 people from 251 organisations.

Ms Lou said that in addition to organising the Corporate Games, the LCSD also assisted in organising the Hong Kong Games (HKG) which was held every two years with the 18 District Councils as participating units. She called on the people to actively support and take part in the third HKG to be held in May next year so as to further promote "Sport-for-All" at the community level.

Participating organisations of the Corporate Games are divided into three groups. Group A is for organisations employing 300 people or more in Hong Kong, while Group B for organisations with employees less than 300. Group C is for the Government departments. The Overall Champions of the Corporate Games 2010 for these three groups were Hospital Authority, Yee Hope (Pharmaceutical Research) Ltd and the Hong Kong Police Force respectively.

The Corporate Games 2010 were held from June to December this year. It covered a total of 13 competition events including athletics, badminton, basketball, distance run, indoor rowing, snooker, seven-a-side mini-soccer, 11-a-side soccer, swimming, table tennis, tennis, tenpin bowling and volleyball.
