Two men charged with attempting to mislead police officers

     Police today (December 7) charged two men, aged 32 and 39, with attempting to mislead police officers by providing false statement and attempting to mislead police officers by making false information respectively.

     On June 17 this year, the 39-year old male made a report alleging that a police officer handling a traffic accident in connection with his private car in Tsuen Wan, had stolen $30,000 cash from his vehicle compartment. His 32-year old brother also accused police of stealing money at the scene.  

     Following a Complaints Against Police Office¡¯s (CAPO) investigation, CAPO officers discovered that the allegation was false and arrested the two men. Legal advice was sought and charges were laid against them today. They have been released on court bail and will appear in Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts for plea on December 9.
