A 43-year-old man was sentenced to 80-day imprisonment for making a false report of commission of offence at Tuen Mun Magistrates¡¯ Courts today (December 3).

On April 12 this year, the two-way permit holder was arrested for breach of condition of stay and using a forged identity card in Tsuen Wan.

The man later lodged a complaint that he was assaulted by police officers and one of them also poured cold water all over his body at Tsuen Wan Police Station on April 15.

A full investigation by Complaint Against Police Office discovered that the allegation was false. Legal advice was sought and charges were laid against the man on Nov 22. He finally pleaded guilty and the sentence was handed down today.

A Police spokesman reiterates that knowingly making a false report against a Police officer is a serious offence and any person violating the law may be prosecuted.
