Yau Ma Tei restaurant ordered to suspend business
*************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yau Ma Tei to suspend business for 21 days. The operator repeatedly extended food business illegally, in breach of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, located on the ground floor at 17 Temple Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (December 2) to December 22.

"In September this year, four convictions on the breach were recorded against the food premises," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $12,000 was levied by the court and 60 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in a seven-day and 14-day business suspension running consecutively," he added.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
