The gong, located in the Ante Chamber of the Legislative Council Building, was originally designed for decorative purposes. Since the 1980s, Secretariat staff strike the gong before the Council meeting begins, to remind Members to go into the Chamber. Visitors will get the opportunity to strike the gong on Open Day.   Close
