Let's learn about animals and nature (with photos)
**************************************************

To arouse public interest in animal ecology and awareness of nature conservation, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will organise a roving zoo education exhibition at five of its parks from Saturday (November 27), to showcase the wide variety of animals that live in its zoological parks.

The exhibition ¡ª "Animal Collection of the LCSD" will be staged at five of LCSD parks by turns until January 9, 2011. It will help enrich public knowledge about nature and animals while also enjoying the park facilities.

A spokesman for the LCSD said, "Parks provide a cool place for the public to relax and appreciate nature. Rolling out zoological education on our parks can nurture public awareness of animals and foster a closer bond between people and animals.

"By visiting our zoological parks, people can get to know more about the living and eating habits of animals and their different behaviour, so as to understand more about the importance of caring for animals and conserving nature."

The annual zoo education exhibition ¡ª "Animal Collection of the LCSD" will be launched at Kowloon Park this Saturday where panels will be on display to introduce the animals living in the LCSD's parks, as well as photos of these lovely park inhabitants.

To kick off the exhibition, an array of activities will be held from 10am to 4pm this Saturday and Sunday (November 28) at Kowloon Park, where games stalls will be set up at the Arcade. Visitors are welcome to attend a series of seminars on "Knowledge of Animals" in the Park's sports centre for sharing with local organisations about the characteristics of various animals and nature conservation. Meanwhile, children can take a closer look at the animals by partaking in the tour around the Bird Lake and Aviary of the Park, and obtain souvenirs by joining in "Searching Animals of the Parks" matching and puzzle games.
