The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, will leave for Yokohama, Japan tomorrow (November 9) to attend the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Ministerial Meeting.
During the two-day meeting (November 10 and 11), ministers will discuss how to give impetus to the Doha Development Agenda and review APEC's efforts against protectionism. They will also exchange views on the promotion of regional economic integration and on the implementation of a strategy to achieve sustained economic growth, as well as discussing the way forward for APEC.
Mrs Lau will host a reception for Hong Kong business leaders and prominent interlocutors in Japan on November 11.
She will also hold meetings with her ministerial counterparts to exchange views on bilateral trade relations and issues of mutual concern on the sidelines of the APEC meeting.
Mrs Lau will return to Hong Kong on November 12.
