Territory-wide operation to promote public light bus safety

     Police issued one summons and 99 fixed penalty tickets to public light bus (PLB) drivers in a territory-wide operation against traffic offences involving PLBs yesterday (May 11).

     The operation included high profile enforcement and deployment of plainclothes officers to observe the driving manner of PLB drivers. One summons and 99 fixed penalty tickets were issued to PLB drivers for various traffic offences. Another 92 summonses were issued to PLB passengers for not wearing seat-belts. A PLB driver was arrested for non-payment of court fines.

     Two PLBs were suspected of having structural defects and would be referred to Transport Department for follow up action.

     Police will continue to take various enforcement actions with a view to improving road safety.
