The Director of Home Affairs declared by notice in the Gazette today (June 5) that the Chief Executive, exercising the powers conferred by section 16(2) of the District Councils Ordinance, has appointed Dr Yang Mo as a member of the Southern District Council (SDC).
Under section 16(2) of the District Councils Ordinance, the Chief Executive may appoint another person to hold office as an appointed member if a vacancy arises from the death of the appointed member.
The office of Mr Fong Chun-chun, an appointed member of SDC, became vacant after his death on April 25, 2009.
The Chief Executive has appointed Dr Yang to hold office as an appointed member of the SDC from today to December 31, 2011.
