"Cultural Festival" promises fun for all this Lunar New Year at Hong Kong Wetland Park (with photos)
************************************************************

An array of performances by more than 10 ethnic minority groups and organisations during the "Cultural Festival" will herald the celebration of "World Wetlands Day 2009" from Monday (January 26) to February 1 at the Hong Kong Wetland Park, offering visitors an enriched wetland journey this Lunar New Year.

With the stunning scenery of the Wetland Park as the backdrop, delightful folk songs, dances, dramas and tinkling handbells will fill seven days of entertainment to celebrate the cultural diversity of the community and advocate the importance of wetlands.

There will also be an exhibition of photos and artwork by 800 members of the public. All depict the beauty of the wetlands.

Through a variety of cultural booths designed by 12 ethnic minorities, green groups as well as local and Mainland students, visitors will learn more about the food, clothing and culture of various ethnic groups.  Along with a display of student reports on wetland conservation, the festival is for the enjoyment of visitors of all ages.

The "World Wetlands Day 2009 Hong Kong Celebration Ceremony" next Sunday (February 1) will commemorate the adoption of the Ramsar Convention in 1971 in the small town of Ramsar in Iran. Different types of educational activities on wetlands are organised worldwide during this period.
