Processing of Thailand poultry import applications resumed
**********************************************************

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) today (January 15) announced that the processing of applications for importing poultry and poultry products from Thailand (except Administrative Region 6, the central west part of the country) would resume with immediate effect.

The CFS suspended the processing of applications following confirmation of an outbreak of the highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 on a poultry farm in Thailand in November last year.

"In view of the control measures taken by Thailand and the fact that there are no other cases of avian influenza reported, we decided to resume processing applications," a CFS spokesman said.

ˇ°We are monitoring the situation in Administrative Region 6 and restrictions on import from the area will remain for the time being.ˇ±
