Pamela Youde Nethsole Eastern Hospital Investigation Panel

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     In response to media enquiries, the spokesperson of Pamela Youde Nethsole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) issued the following reply today (January 14):

     The Hospital management is extremely concerned about the recent incident of missing the body of a new born baby. An Investigation Panel has been set up for full investigation and review of the incident.
  
     The Terms of Reference of the Investigation Panel are:
i) to investigate into the incident;
ii) to recommend improvement measures based on the investigation results.

     The Investigation Panel comprises of the following membership:

Chairman:

Dr LAU Chor-chiu, Deputy Hospital Chief Executive cum Chief of Service (Accident and Emergency Department), PYNEH

Members:

* Mr CHEUNG Tak-hei, Chairman of Alliance for Patients¡¯ Mutual Help Organizations

* Rev CHU Yiu-ming, Member of PYNEH Hospital Governing Committee cum Principal Pastor, Chai Wan Baptist Church

* Ms Virginia WU, Member of Hospital Authority Public Complaints Committee cum Patient Group Representative

* Dr David LAM Tat-yin, Hospital Chief Executive, Ruttonjee and Tang Shiu Kin Hospital and Tung Wah Eastern Hospital

     The Panel would conduct the investigation in an independent, fair and impartial manner to review and analyse the case in detail according to the Terms of Reference. The Panel will finalise the report in about 6 weeks for submission to Hong Kong East Cluster and Hospital Authority Head Office.
