The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (December 11) pursued one claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $16,000 on behalf of two employees, who were owed surcharges of MPF contributions by their employer.
At the tribunal's hearing today, the defendant, Profield Construction Engineering Limited, did not appear. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $16,216.5, being surcharges of mandatory contributions payable.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as it received by the MPFA. The tribunal ordered the defendant to pay $112 as costs in respect of the claim.
