Secondary School Profiles 2008-2009 released
********************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on Home-School Co-operation:

The Committee on Home-School Co-operation (CHSC) today (December 11) released the e-version (in Chinese and English) of the Secondary School Profiles 2008-2009.  The printed version (in Chinese) will be delivered to primary schools for distribution to parents with children at Primary Six level in the current school year.

The Secondary School Profiles 2008-2009 contain information provided by individual schools showing the position as at September 2008.  The profiles cover basic information on more than 400 secondary schools, such as teaching staff, school curriculum, class structure, school facilities, extra-curricular activities, school life and school characteristics.

The profiles aim to provide comprehensive information on secondary schools to parents to facilitate their choice of school for their children.  Professor Wong Po-choi, Chairman of the CHSC, wrote an article entitled "What should we consider when choosing schools?" for the profiles to highlight important points for parents to note in selecting schools.

The e-version of the profiles enables schools to update their information on the web directly, whenever necessary, and parents can obtain the most up-to-date school information. According to statistics, the number of browsers was around 3.8 million, while the number of pages viewed was nearly 37 million per year.  This reflects the popularity of the e-version.

Parents of children who will study in Secondary One in September 2009 will receive the printed version of the profiles for the respective district through their primary schools within these two weeks.

The public can access the e-version of the profiles at http://chsc.edb.hkedcity.net/secondary .  Copies of the printed version will be available for public reference at District Offices, public libraries, Regional Education Offices and the Central Resources Centre of the Education Bureau (EDB).

For enquiries about the profiles, please call the EDB's Regional Education Offices (Hong Kong: 2863 4646; Kowloon: 3698 4108; New Territories East: 2639 4876; and New Territories West: 2437 7272), or the CHSC secretariat (3698 4379 or 3698 4376).
