A special set of children stamps ¡°Paper Folding Fun¡± would be released on May 22 (Thursday), the Postmaster General, Mr Tam Wing-pong, announced today (May 7). Associated stamp products will also be on sale from the same day.
This set of stamps features the winning entries of the ¡°Children Stamps ¡ª Paper Folding Fun Design Competition¡± organised by Hongkong Post in 2006 which aimed to encourage creativity through paper folding. A wonderful world unfolds in the prize-winning works shown in the stamp issue ¡°Paper Folding Fun¡±, which presents a number of icons relating to flora, fauna, festivals and the four seasons. The six stamps are Champion of Primary School Division: ¡°Bauhinia ¡ª City Flower of Hong Kong¡± ($1.40); Champion of Secondary School Division: ¡°Bear¡± ($1.80); Champion of Family Division: ¡°Lunar New Year Specialties and Decorations¡± ($2.40); 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up of Primary School Division: ¡°Fragrant Lotus¡± and ¡°Flower Rainbow¡± respectively ($2.50); 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up of Secondary School Division: ¡°Adorable Koalas¡± and ¡°Monkey and Banana¡± respectively ($3); and 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up of Family Division: ¡°Christmas¡± and ¡°Cute Santa¡± respectively ($5).
Official First Day Covers at $1 each will be on sale at all post offices from tomorrow (May 8). This set of stamps and the associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office and Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin Central Post Offices from the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from May 8-15.
