Assistant Principal Immigration Officer, Mr Arvid Kwok Tsan-ming, left for Kingston, Canada today (April 26) while Chief Immigration Officer, Mr Wilson Wong Mo-cheong, will leave for Ottawa on Monday (April 28).

The objective of the overseas training programmes is to broaden the global horizon and enhance the career development of the officers.

Mr Kwok will attend the Queen's Executive Programme run by the Queen's University. The programme, which is designed for senior managers, emphasizes strengthening their ability in three core areas - strategy formulation, corporate management and leadership.

Mr Wong will attend the Senior Police Administrative Course (SPAC) run by the Canadian Police College of Royal Canadian Mounted Police. SPAC, which is designed for middle managers in policy agencies, aims to enhance their leadership ability.

At a briefing with the two officers, Director of Immigration, Mr Simon Peh Yun-lu, said that in view of the growing complexity of immigration work, members of the service were required to adhere to the changing global political and economic situation closely and acquire the contemporary management techniques.
