Public invited to share fun of Olympics in Mong Kok

    People are invited to join a number of free activities at MacPherson Playground in Mong Kok tomorrow (April 26) to celebrate and feel the joy of the upcoming 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

    Jointly organised by the Yau Tsim Mong District Office and the Yau Tsim Mong District Council, "Yau Tsim Mong District Sports Carnival in celebration of the 100-Day countdown to the Olympic Games" will be held from 2pm to 6pm tomorrow.

    At the opening ceremony at 2pm, Hong Kong's equestrian representative in the Paralympics, Nelson Yip, representatives of Hong Kong swimming team in the Olympics, Sherry Tsai Hiu-wai, Elaine Chan Yu-ling, Stephanie Au Hoi-shun and about 80 students from the district will read out a manifesto in support of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

    Also officiating at the ceremony are: Yau Tsim Mong District Council Chairman Mr Chung Kong-mo; Yau Tsim Mong District Council Vice-chairman, Mr Edward Leung; Yau Tsim Mong District Officer, Mrs Vicki Kwok; Chairman of Yau Tsim Mong District School Liaison Committee, Mr Wong Kwok-kong; Chairman of Executive Committee of the Yau Tsim Mong Healthy City, Mr Yip Wah.

    After the ceremony, people are welcome to watch a variety show produced by TVB from 2.30pm. Basketball and football fans should not miss two performance matches to be held at 4pm and 4.30pm respectively.
