The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, today (April 21) visited Tuen Mun District to gain a better understanding about the latest developments in the district.
Accompanied by District Officer (Tuen Mun), Mr Eddie Cheung, Professor Chan first visited a social enterprise established by Yan Oi Tong - Green Home. The services of Green Home mainly focus on the sale of environmental home products and organic food. Professor Chan noted the social enterprise created a number of jobs for the disadvantaged and provided them training opportunities to join the job market.
Later, Professor Chan visited the Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council Tuen Mun District Integrated Services Centre for the Elderly at Shan King Estate. The Centre provides comprehensive services for the elderly and promotes respect and care for the elderly in the community. Professor Chan gave his best wishes to the elderly at the Centre and played games with them.
Joined by Tuen Mun District Council Chairman, the Hon Lau Wong-fat, Professor Chan then toured Wo Ping San Tsuen to see for the environmental improvement project there.
Before ending his visit, Professor Chan met with members of the Tuen Mun District Council at a tea reception where they exchanged views on various community issues.
