Hospital Authority responds to Expert Group report

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

    In response to the release of the report today (April 18) by the Expert Group set up by the Government to investigate the deaths of three children with acute febrile illnesses earlier this year, the Hospital Authority (HA) issued the following statement:

    The Hospital Authority notes the findings and recommendations of the six-member Expert Group headed by Professor Yuen Kwok-yung of the University of Hong Kong.

    The authority expresses deepest condolences to the families of the three deceased children.  The two hospitals concerned, Tuen Mun Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital, will continue to keep in contact with the families and provide the necessary support.  The three cases will be further reviewed by the Coroner.

    Public hospitals will continue to monitor the influenza situation and closely follow up paediatric patients with influenza symptoms during their attendances.
