CEDD seeks community views on greening
**************************************

The public is invited to a forum to be held on March 10 (Monday) to give their views on the greening of Western District and Kennedy Town.

The forum, organised by the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) and Central & Western District Council, aims to collect the views of residents and people working there.

CEDD has completed the Greening Master Plan (GMP) for Central and Sheung Wan.  The GMP will define the overall greening framework of the areas and will serve as a guide for those involved in planning, design and implementation of greening works.

Under the GMPs for Tsim Sha Tsui and Central, about 1,250 trees and 300,000 shrubs have been planted. The GMPs for Mong Kok, Yau Ma Tei, Sheung Wan, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay have also been completed. The greening works of these districts will commence in mid 2008 for completion at the end of 2009.

The forum will be held on 11/F, Kennedy Town Community Complex on March 10 from 7pm to 9pm. Participants are welcome to give their views on greening issues, including greening themes, locations for planting and planting species.

Members of the public who wish to join the forum can make reservation by phone (Tel. no. 2905 8652) during office hours. Reservation can also be made by mail or fax. Enrollment forms are available at the department website: www.cedd.gov.hk/eng/greening/forum_cw.htm.

More details about the development of the GMP are also available on the department website.
