400 students build spectacular display for the Hong Kong Flower Show 2008
*********************************************************

Over 400 students from 16 schools, in showing their cooperative and team spirit, today (March 1) joined hands to put up the spectacular mosaiculture display entitled "Equestrian Joy" at the Victoria Park.

The display features Fuwa Huanhuan and Fu Niu (lucky bull) Lele, the respective mascots of the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games, and eight horses on the lawn. It will be exhibited at the coming Hong Kong Flower Show to be held from March 14 to 24.

Apart from enjoying beautiful and exotic flowers and plants at the Flower Show, members of the public can join Huanhuan and Lele to show support for the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games, and wishing the Equestrian Events to be held in Hong Kong every success!

The mosaiculture display is created from colourful plants of various species, including Kalanchoe, Cigar Flower, Golden Dewdrop, Marguerite, New Guinea Impatiens, Chrysanthemum Multicaule, Dusty Miller, etc. Some of the plant sculptures are also designed with movable parts, adding motion to the spectacular display.

The annual Hong Kong Flower Show, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), will be held from March 14 to 24 from 9 am to 9 pm, with the Gerbera as the show's theme flower.

The event has attracted more than 200 participating organisations from Hong Kong, the Mainland and overseas, showcasing more than 350,000 plants in landscape and floral art displays.

A series of fringe activities will complement the 11-day flower show for the enjoyment of visitors. They include music and dance performances, green talks, floral art demonstrations, cooking demonstrations and fun games.

Admission tickets to the Hong Kong Flower Show 2008 are available now until March 24 at LCSD's District Leisure Services Offices, and venues with Leisure Link services.

Tickets will also be sold at the entrance to the showground at Victoria Park throughout the show period.
