The Labour Department has set up a Youth Employment Resource Centre called Youth Employment Start (Y.E.S.) which will come into operation from tomorrow (December 20). The centre will provide one-stop advisory and support services on employment and self-employment to youngsters aged between 15 and 29.

"The setting up of Y.E.S. aims to provide support to youth to start right in their career, enhance their employability, enable them to access the latest labour market information and help them secure a firm footing in the labour market for sustainable development," Assistant Commissioner for Labour Byron Ng said.

"To cater for the distinct needs of the youth, we have designed our services in a unique and innovative manner.  The range of services and facilities at Y.E.S. include career assessment, career guidance, value-added training and self-employment support.

"The target users of Y.E.S. are current and past trainees of the Youth Pre-employment Training Programme and Youth Work Experience & Training Scheme, school leavers, young job seekers, youth seeking alternative employment and self-employed youth aged between 15 and 29," he added.

He pointed out that Y.E.S. was a realisation of the Chief Executive's announcement in the 2006 Policy Address that Youth Employment Resource Centres would be set up to provide advisory and support services on employment and self-employment to youth aged between 15 and 29.

Youth Employment Start is located at Suite 8-11, 42/F, Office Tower, Langham Place, 8 Arygle Street, Mongkok.  Enquiries about the centre can be directed to the telephone hotline 3585 8000.  The centre's website is www.e-start.hk.

The opening hours of Y.E.S. are Mondays to Saturdays from 10am to 7pm.
