Hong Kong Musical Theatre Federation presents double bill
*********************************************************

Hong Kong Musical Theatre Federation will stage next month a double bill - "If Again", a dance musical about a wild party, and "Can't Help It... My Feet Love to Dance", a spectacle of song-and-dance numbers from the best-known musicals.

Inspired by the stunning imagery of the controversial verse novel "The Wild Party" by Joseph Moncure March, "If Again" is a dance musical that portrays a gang of desperate, high-living low lifes. A couple decides to throw a party to end their foul relationship. Night descends and the party gets wilder as desires and jealousies mingle with gin-soaked bodies, jazz rhythms and hot dances, until someone asks "How did we come to this?"

The story is told through a series of solos, duets and group numbers in authentic jazz and theatre dance style, with sensational jazz, blues, swing and pop music. The dance musical will be performed with some dialogue in Cantonese, and contains adult content.

"Can't Help It... My Feet Love to Dance" is a spectacle of song-and-dance from the 1920s to current Broadway and Hollywood musicals, featuring Pichead Amornsomboon, Ryan Hui and David Quah, celebrated artists from theatre, pop music and opera. The programme highlights include songs from "A Chorus Line", "Grease", "The Producers" and "Hairspray". The piece will be performed in English with some dialogue in Cantonese.

The double bill is jointly directed by musical veteran Mohamed Drissi and Golden Horse Best Leading Actor nominee Glen Chin. Drissi is also the choreographer and Chin the music director of the production. Renowned opera singer David Quah is the vocal coach.

Double Bill "If Again" and "Can't Help it... My Feet Love to Dance", presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will be staged at 8pm, January 25 to 27, 2008 (Friday to Sunday), and at 3pm, January 26, 2008 (Saturday), at the Theatre, Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre.
