Israel percussionist Ziv Eitan has accepted an invitation from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to perform in Hong Kong in a concert - "A Journey into the Rhythm".
It is a boundless musical journey that traverses diverse and powerful musical genres and styles ranging from Bach to 21st century music in a programme that encompasses romantic classical music, electronic music and world music. It includes original and innovative works specially written for Ziv Eitan by neo-Romantic composers.
The programme includes Bach¡¯s ¡°Ciaccona¡± from Partita No.2; Minoru Miki Marimba¡¯s ¡°Spiritual¡±; Ronen Hoffman and Ziv Eitan¡¯s ¡°The Good People", and many more.
¡°Ziv Eitan is a virtuoso, a rhythm-genius¡± - Yossi Charsonsky, Maariv, Israel.
A legendary name in percussion and marimba, Ziv Eitan performs with true virtuosity. He is ably accompanied by percussionist Yonatan Givoni and cellist David Tsur. Together, they take audiences on a rich musical journey in a unique, complete and moving concert experience. The show has toured the Far East, the United States and Europe with resounding success.
The concert will be staged at 8pm, January 7, 2008 (Monday), at the Theatre, Hong Kong City Hall. Tickets priced at $280 and $180 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions will be granted to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. (Limited tickets for Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis.)

Masterclass by Ziv Eitan (conducted in English) will be held at 10.30am on January 8 (Tuesday) at the Theatre, Hong Kong City Hall. Free admission tickets will be available at the enquiry counter (9am-9pm) at the Hong Kong City Hall and Hong Kong Cultural Centre from December 17 onwards.
