"Craze Explosion" triple bill showcases local modern dance
**********************************************************

A "Craze Explosion" triple bill by Zero Zero Ensemble, Unlock Dancing Plaza and Dick Wong, produced by E-side Dance Company and presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will be staged in January. It is part of the "Dancing Now" Modern Dance Series.

The E-side Dance Company has invited three of Hong Kong's top avant garde dance companies - Zero Zero Ensemble, Unlock Dancing Plaza, and Dick Wong - to take audiences into the realm of a nebulous existence with crazy dialogue and frenetic dances. Imaginations run wild in the making of the three remarkable dance works.

Zero Zero Ensemble presents "White Shadow", choreographed by Force Fong and Noel Pong; performed by Force Fong, Noel Pong and Dominic Wong. The work is about illusion and reality, existence and non-existence. The name OO Ensemble contains an infinity (OO) sign. It signifies that art and creation is a transformation from nothing to infinity. The ensemble aims to produce dance performances and activities with high originality and quality. Works include "Beginning and End", "Visible Melody" and "Multi-faces".

Unlock Dancing Plaza presents "Whatever", choreographed by Ong Yong Lock, performed by dancers Lim Wei Wei, Flora Hon, Chan Ka Ching, violinist Sze Ka Yan and vocalist Lianna Tse. They mix sorrow with humour, speak with their bodies, and try to communicate insatiable desires and yearnings. The company aims to liberate the constraints of the stage, strives to discover new ways to appreciate and experience dance. It emphasises the openness of space and communication between the performers and the audience. Important works include "Same Time Tomorrow", "10 Nights' Wanderings", "The Philosopher's Stone".

Dick Wong choreographs "1+1¡Ù2" and performs with Abby Chan. The work shows an endless power game between a man and a woman. It also asks for self-examination on "ideal" and "reality". Wong began his individual creations in the early 90s and has worked with Zuni Icosahedron, Edward Lam Dance Theatre, Three Colours and People Mountain People Sea. His creations include solos, group pieces, collaboration and multi-media projects. More important works include "I Only Want You To Love Me" (Nine Voices - Hong Kong Dance Solos,'97), "Anthony Wong Sings People Mountain People Sea" (Hong Kong Arts Festival 97).

This triple bill is under the artistic direction of Jacky Yu and produced by E-Side Dance Company.

"Craze Explosion" will be staged at 8pm, on January 25 and 26, 2008 (Friday and Saturday); and at 3pm on January 27 at the Theatre, Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre.
