Restaurants inspected for fire safety (with photo)
**************************************************

Officers from the Licensing and Certification Command of the Fire Services Department (FSD) this afternoon (December 14) inspected the fire safety conditions of restaurants and places of public entertainment in Taikoo Shing, Hong Kong.

The inspection was part of the department's continued effort in heightening the fire safety awareness of the operators of those establishments.

During the inspection, Fire Services personnel checked whether exits of the premises were free from obstruction and smoke stop doors were properly closed. They also inspected the maintenance of the premises' fire service installations.

Fire safety advisory letters and leaflets were distributed to the operators to remind them to take extra fire safety precautions during the dry season.

An FSD spokesman reminds operators not to obstruct passages or lock any doors or exits designated as means of escape. Any persons found guilty of such offences will be liable to a fine of $100,000.
