Appointments to Hong Kong Productivity Council announced

    The Government today (December 14) announced the re-appointment of eight incumbent members of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), and the appointment of one new member.

     Dr Samson Tam Wai-ho is re-appointed as Deputy Chairman and member of the HKPC, while Mr Daniel Yip Chung-yin, Mr Victor Ng, Mr Fan Cheuk-hung, Mr Cliff Sun Kai-lit, Ms Cheung Lai-ha, Mr Poon Siu-ping and Mr Choi Kam-wah are re-appointed as members of the HKPC, for two years from January 1, 2008.

     Mr Lo Foo-cheung is also appointed as member of the HKPC for two years from January 1.

     The role of the HKPC is to provide integrated support to innovative and growth-oriented Hong Kong firms across the value chain.  The main sectoral focus is on manufacturing, particularly in Hong Kong's foundation industries, and related service activities. Its main geographic focus is Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta. The HKPC provides its clients with a diverse range of support services in product development, consultancy, training and technology transfer.

     "We are confident that these members, with their impressive expertise and knowledge, will help the HKPC provide even better services as it strives to help Hong Kong industries add value and become more competitive," a government spokesman said.

     The HKPC is governed by a council comprising a chairman and 22 members, of whom 18 are non-official members and five are public officials. The members of the council are drawn from managerial, labour, academic and professional ranks, as well as related Government bureaus and departments.

     Membership of the council from January 1, 2008 will be as follows :
