CSSA caseload decreased in November

    The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in November shows a decrease of 0.5% (1,338 cases) over October, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (December 5).

     Total CSSA caseload at the end of November stood at 289,076 (see attached table), with a total of 499,183 recipients.  

     Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases showed a continued decrease of 2.2% in November to 33,406.

     Single parent cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.9% in November to 37,266.
 
     Low earning cases showed a month-to-month decrease of 0.7% to stand at 17,377.

     Total government expenditure on CSSA payments was about $17.6 billion for 2006-07.
