Pictured is a kneeling figure bearing a "zun" unearthed from the Sanxingdui site. Naked to the waist, the figure wears a skirt and a belt tied in a knot with a "xi" inserted. The "xi" is used to untie a knot. This figure illustrates the way ancient Shu people made their offerings. Data gathered at Sanxingdui showed that the Shu people carried a "zun" on their head and held onto its belly during a sacrificial ceremony. The "zuns" would be filled with cowry shells and stone and jade ware.
