**********************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (May 16) pursued three claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $47,000 on behalf of 17 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

At the tribunal's hearing, Chan Ping Hong trading as Express Engineering Co, did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered him to pay the MPFA $29,545.90, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The other two defendants, Professional Production Group Limited and RSA Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the respective sums of $14,143.72 and $3,837.92, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Tribunal further awarded $170, $96 and $105 as the costs in respect of the claims.
